I would encourage everybody that is doing a Cerner implementation for revenue cycle and charge services to use Softek's consulting services. Softek's consultants teach us how to use the system while implementing the system, and that is a win-win situation. Softek offers a wonderful solution. We would recommend them without hesitation. They are a great help for our IT department in supporting the revenue cycle and our system. Softek looks at how our servers are running and looks for performance issues just within the basic operations of our system with some of the modules.

People don't know what they don't have until they have it, and that is what Softek works with. They look for ways to find and capture missing revenue, and they are pretty good at that. I really don't know what else they can do better. They are very engaged in helping their clients. I can't call Softek perfect, but they are pretty darn close. I don't see much room for them to up their game. I have zero complaints about Softek. They provide outcomes, find problems that we didn't know existed, and help us to resolve those problems.

Softek isn't developing a product that is going to make us want to get rid of our revenue cycle system; they are just trying to relieve the pressure and identify gaps. A lot of other companies come in and want to push us away from Cerner or want to push us away from our revenue cycle system, and that isn't how Softek functions. I can not only stop the bleeding but also keep my organization from making the same mistakes from a build perspective.

Without Panther, we could have been billing incorrectly for a long time without identifying broken connections within Cerner. It was through the Panther process when we were reviewing the findings and what the system had identified that our pharmacy realized that something behind the scenes had been connected to the wrong orderable. Through Panther, they were able to identify where the connection was broken. Since they fixed it, they don’t get the errors anymore. Just having this window into the connections that are behind the scene was extremely educational.

There have been other products that the vendor has developed just for us as well. The vendor is really easy to work with, and they have been very engaged with us all along their journey of issues inside of our third-party's revenue cycle. If another client asks for something, the vendor doesn’t have us pay additional money for that. They just push it out to all of their clients because they know that there is a need.

Softek was incredibly generous to work with us and accommodate when our IT resources were available, to work around some of the bumps that we hit along the way. They were incredibly patient in helping us get to the point where we could actually get an agreement with them.

Softek’s engineers seem to know our third-party revenue cycle system better than anybody else I have ever worked with. They understand and know what tables to pull respective information from. They don’t have a problem pulling up the information and educating me as to why they are linking a specific table or why they are pulling data from a certain place. The vendor has a much broader understanding of the product than someone from our third-party vendor's support group. We have good luck with just picking up a phone and calling an engineer from Softek, and Softek's people can quickly just answer our questions. They are just really good to work with.

We brought Softek in on our project, and they gave us a deal. They gave us a consultant to really support us, and that person had an amazing knowledge set. They were almost like an extension of our team, and they were really smart in what we were doing so that they could help us with issues and problems. That person was a godsend and was an absolutely wonderful resource. There were a lot of things done in person, but we did some work virtually too. At our request, we wanted to do things in person. Softek would have happily worked either way. The person we were working with was so valuable that we were really begging for them to be on-site. We felt like we were asking Yoda to teach us. That person was a revenue cycle guru and an engineer, and they had a great personality too. They came in and got to know us. I trusted them as much as I did my own staff.

Working with Softek has just been very refreshing in that respect because a lot of other vendors of tools that we have always have user enhancements, but that is such a process. With those vendors, we can submit enhancement requests to them, and then they put it in a pile, and then they vote on it. Then they see whether they can work on it. By the time that enhancement comes around, we have found a workaround to do what we need to do. But things have been very different with Softek from that perspective.
